Departing from Osaka/Kyoto
2 Days / 1 Night Romantic Setouchi Island-Hopping Journey Shodoshimai, Himeji & Okayama

Where the White Heron Castle Meets the Sea of Dreams. Himeji, Okayama & Shodoshima A 2-Day Dream Island-Hopping Journey.

Departing from Osaka, this journey unfolds gently between history and imagination. Himeji Castle, standing gracefully in white, invites you into the depth of Japan’s past. At Okayama Korakuen Garden, water and greenery blend into a living landscape of seasonal beauty, while the canals and white-walled streets of Kurashiki offer a quiet, timeless charm.

On the second day, cross the Seto Inland Sea to Shodoshima Island. The nostalgic film village preserves memories of a bygone era, while the breeze and sunlight of Olive Park evoke the lighthearted world of Kiki’s Delivery Service. As the tide recedes, Angel Road emerges across the sea—like a fleeting path between reality and dream.

More than a journey, this is a gentle escape between land and sea, where stories come to life.

Tour Details

DAY1 08:00 Departure from Osaka
The journey begins in the quiet morning, gradually moving from the modern city into the deeper layers of Japan’s historical landscape.
10:00 Himeji Castle (approx. 90 min)
Standing like a white heron, Himeji Castle represents one of Japan’s finest preserved wooden castles. Its layered structure and defensive design reflect the architectural sophistication of the feudal era. From the main keep, both the city and history unfold before you.
13:00 Okayama Korakuen Garden (approx. 60 min)
Entering the garden, the pace slows. Water, lawn, and distant scenery are harmonized through the concept of borrowed landscape. It offers a refined expression of Edo-period aesthetics and the relationship between nature and design.
15:00 Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter (approx. 90 min)
White-walled buildings and canals create a serene and timeless townscape. Former merchant spaces are now revitalized as cultural venues, allowing history to continue as part of everyday life.
18:00 Overnight in Okayama
The day concludes with a clear narrative—from castle to garden to townscape—revealing how tradition is preserved and reinterpreted. Enjoy a relaxing evening at your own pace.
DAY2 07:00 Departure for Shodoshima
Depart from Okayama and head to the port for a ferry ride across the Seto Inland Sea. As the boat moves forward, islands appear scattered across the water, shaped by soft light and sea breeze. This transition marks a shift from mainland landscapes to the unique cultural atmosphere of island life.
10:00 Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village (approx. 60 min)
A wooden school building stands quietly by the sea, preserving memories of the Showa era. The reconstructed village transforms everyday life into a tangible experience, where time feels slower and history is expressed through simple, human-scale details.
11:30 Olive Park (approx. 60 min)
Open landscapes stretch toward the sea, where white windmills and olive trees create a Mediterranean-inspired setting. With dynamic light and scenery, the park is both visually striking and culturally evocative—especially as a filming inspiration for Kiki’s Delivery Service, where imagination gently blends with reality.
13:30 Angel Road (approx. 60 min)
A sandbar that appears only at low tide, connecting small islands across the sea. Its limited accessibility introduces a temporal dimension to the experience—arrival depends on timing. Walking along it offers a rare moment where the boundary between land and sea briefly disappears.
16:00 Return to Osaka
Leave Shodoshima and return to Osaka by ferry and coach. As the islands fade into the distance, the journey forms a complete narrative arc—from history to nature, and from reality to imagination.
19:00 Arrival Osaka & End of Tour
The journey concludes upon returning to the city, while the memory of sea, wind, and time continues to resonate beyond the trip itself.
