Kii Peninsula (Wakayama) – 2 Days, 1 Night Trip
This 2-day, 1-night journey through the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama offers a well-balanced experience of coastal scenery, cultural heritage, and sacred pilgrimage sites. Departing from Osaka, the tour first travels to Nanki Shirahama, one of the most famous seaside destinations in western Japan. Visitors enjoy free time at Toretore Market, one of the largest seafood markets in the region, where they can taste fresh seafood and explore local specialties. The tour then visits Sandanbeki Cave, a dramatic sea cave carved by the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon, travelers explore Shirahama’s most iconic coastal landscapes, including the rock formations of Senjojiki, the white sands of Shirarahama Beach, and the scenic Engetsuto Island, before staying overnight in Katsuura. On the second day, after breakfast, the journey continues to Daimonzaka, part of the UNESCO-listed Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, where guests can walk along the ancient stone steps surrounded by towering cedar trees while experiencing traditional Heian-period costumes. The tour then visits Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine and the magnificent Nachi Falls, a sacred waterfall revered in Shinto belief.
